Word UFO Day has been founded by UFO hunter Haktan Akdogan in 2001 and should give you the opportunity to reflect and ponder about the possibility that we are not alone in the universe.
There are many reasons why this day became popular in the UFO community. First of all it it commemorate the birthday of Kenneth Arnold having his UFO observation near Mount Rainier on June 24th, 1947 with his CallAir monoplane.
This day used to be celebrated on both July 2 and June 24 but WUFODO (World UFO Day Organisation) has consolidated the occasion to one date.
World UFO day is also being used to encourage governments to reveal their knowledge about ufo sightings. The US government is believed to have exclusive information about unidentified flying objects particularly in the military departments (Project Blue Book, Project Grudge, ...).
The organisation hopes to create a climate where UFOs are openly discussed and no longer part of speculation and ridicule.
A few days after World UFO day, thousands of UFO enthousiasts travel to Roswell, New Mexico to participate in the yearly UFO Festival between July 6 and July 8. This festival celebrates the famous Roswell balloon crash that the US government has been using to cover up their secret project Mogul. It is one of the most debated incidents in UFO history.
If you still have no vacation plans then you know where to go.
